New Moon in Virgo – Sept. 7, 2021, 00:52 UT

The New Moon at 14+ degrees of Virgo is in conjunction with Orcus, a big Pluto-like minor planet, and opposite centaur Nessus in Pisces. The New Moon is in exact trine to Uranus in Taurus.

New Moon in Virgo
Orcus was discovered in 2004 by Brown, Trujillo and Rabinowitz. This large object shares some remarkable similarities with Pluto. They have the same orbital period (245 – 248 years), and their elongated orbits are nearly identical, except they are pointing in opposite directions. Both form a binary system with their relatively large companion; Pluto with Charon and Orcus with Vanth.

Orcus was named in 2004 after the Etruscan god of the underworld, one of the roman equivalents of Pluto. Orcus is particularly a punisher of false and broken oaths. Vanth is named after the Etruscan demon who guides the souls of the dead to the underworld.

The astrological Orcus is able to manifest in several possible ways, in good as well in bad, as all planets usually do. One of the themes of Orcus seems to be imprisonment. Jeremy Neal writes in Orcus (Pholus Press, 2012): “What I subsequently found in my research is that instances of imprisonment are almost always presaged by manor transits or directions from or to Orcus, and the matrix of Orcan contacts describes with uncanny accuracy the conditions and nature of the incarceration.”

The trial of Elizabeth Holmes (born Feb. 3, 1984), founder of the blood testing startup Theranos, began in California a week ago and is expected to last several months. Elizabeth Holmes started Theranos when she was 19 years old and became the world’s youngest self-made billionaire. Now she is facing twenty years in prison because of a fraud. Theranos claimed that its technology would revolutionize the medical industry by making blood-testing procedures cheaper and more convenient, and by detecting health problems with just a few drops of blood. The claims were later revealed to be false. Holmes is accused of deceiving investors, doctors and patients.

Elizabeth Holmes’s Sun is in Aquarius, as is suitable for a person who is interested in new technologies. Her Uranus, the ruler of the Aquarius sign, is in conjunction with her nodal axis, which is aligned at 12+ degrees of Gemini and Sagittarius. The nodes of the Moon are often interpreted as some kind of points of karma, showing what we must work with in order to evolve. Holmes’s Sun at 14+ degrees of Aquarius opposes centaur Nessus in Leo. One of the themes associated with Nessus is “bad blood”. A book describing the life of Holmes and her company, Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup, was released on 2018.

The New Moon at 14+ degrees of Virgo is forming a tight irritating quincunx to Elizabeth Holmes’s natal Sun in Aquarius. The transiting Orcus at 12+ degrees of Virgo is exactly square to her Moon’s nodes and her Uranus in Sagittarius, as is the transiting Nessus at 13+ degrees of Pisces. Neptune currently at 21+ Pisces is conjunct Elizabeth Holmes’s solar arc directed Sun. Solar arc direction is one of the astrological techniques, by which the positions of the planets are progressed to some specific moment. Her solar arc directed Orcus is at 12+ Virgo, occupying the same degree where Orcus is at this New Moon, and squaring her natal nodal axis with a double effect.

Elizabeth Holmes founded the company Real-Time Cures in 2003 and soon renamed it Theranos. The certificate showing the name change was filed on Dec. 15, 2004. The solar arc directed Orcus is now at 13+ Virgo, tripling the Orcean energy, and the solar arc directed Nessus is at 14+ Aquarius, exactly conjunct Elizabeth Holmes’s natal Sun.

An oath-taking in the name of the gods and keeping of word played an important role in the ancient Roman concept of justice. Likewise we value people who keep their promises today. The criminal trial of Elizabeth Holmes lasts for weeks, and we don’t know the outcome, but Orcus will be strongly present steering her future.
