Full Moon in Libra — April 08, 2020, 02:35 UT

The Moon in Libra was in conjunction with asteroid Juno. In the opposite sign Aries, the Sun was in conjunction with Eris.

3 Juno is a large main belt asteroid, discovered in 1804. The main asteroid belt is located between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. Asteroid Juno is named after the queen of the gods, the wife of the Roman chief god Jupiter and the mother of Mars. She was the protectress of the state and goddess of marriage.

Astrologically Juno represents the need to merge with another person, and she is usually seen as the significator of committed relationships. Her Greek equivalent is Hera. In Asteroid Goddesses Demetra George notes that “Greek mythology repeatedly emphasizes the need for Hera’s periodic retreat into solitude.” Themes of solitude and rejection are associated also with Eris, which is in conjunction with the Sun.

The Sabian symbol for the Moon is Libra 19, “A gang of robbers in hiding,” and the symbol for the Sun is Aries 19, “The magic carpet.” The chart draws a picture of us all, withdrawn in our homes and only dreaming of the flying carpet.

COVID-19 was first identified in December 2019. The New Moon in Capricorn on Dec. 26, 2019, was a solar eclipse. I find it interesting that on Dec. 28, 2019, comet C/2019 Y4 (ATLAS) was discovered. It has been brightening and continues to do so. It may become visible to the naked eye later in the spring. At the moment it is retrograding in early Cancer. In astrology comets signify change. Our world has certainly changed within these months.
