Full Moon in Gemini – Dec. 08, 2022, 04:08 UT

The Full Moon takes place exactly conjunct Mars retrograde at 16+ degrees of Gemini. The Moon and Mars are in conjunction with Altjira, a binary Kuiper belt object.

148780 Altjira is a classical Kuiper belt object, cubewano. The primary was discovered in 2001 and the secondary in 2007. Altjira was named in 2008 from the mythology of the Arrente people, a group of Aboriginal Australian peoples. For some odd reason the secondary was not given a name of its own. Altjira was the central god of the Dreamtime who created the earth and then retired to the sky. The orbital period of Altjira is 294 years.
